So I was changing Kiran's diaper and I had a big dollop of diaper cream on my finger ready to smear on, when he decided to pee all over the place. After frantically trying (and failing) to contain the damage, I cleaned Kiran up, dried him off, and was finally ready to smear on the diaper cream again, only to find my finger had no diaper cream on it!
This is a question you do not want to ask yourself when changing a baby: what happened to the blob of diaper cream? (second only to "why is he straining like that?")
I looked Kiran up and down and to my horror the diaper cream had somehow gotten onto his hand and he had smeared it all around and into his mouth!! I cleaned it out of his mouth and off his hand the best I could, hoping it wasn't poisonous.
I was already feeling like a bad mom as I finished putting on his diaper, but then I looked up and saw diaper cream all over Kiran's hand AGAIN and this time he was smearing it all into his eye! As my niece Zoey would say, WHAT THE HECK?
After some investigation I realized what happened was the blob of diaper cream had fallen behind Kiran's hand, so he would dip his hand into the cream and then it would get transferred onto whatever he touched next.
When Mahesh gave Kiran a bath that night, he asked me why the baby had diaper cream in his hair. Sigh.
