22 weeks!

My how the time flies! I just started a new job that goes until the end of May, and things have been incredibly busy. It was just yesterday we were at 20 weeks, wasn't it?

SPOILER ALERT: We did have our ultrasound appointment last week and found out the sex of the baby, I will reveal it at the end of this email, so if you don't want to know please do not keep reading!

HOW BIG IS THE BABY: 11 inches long! It is supposed to weigh almost a pound at this point. Although I am getting bigger I still find it hard to believe I have something that big in me.

ARE YOU SHOWING A LOT MORE NOW?: Yes I think I can finally say I am clearly looking pregnant now. Yesterday for the first time my coat was open on the bus and I had someone get up and offer me a seat! I am still wearing mostly regular shirts, but for pants I am only wearing maternity pants these days. They are so comfortable I may never go back to regular pants.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING: Still more tired than normal, and with this new job I have been struggling to make sure I get enough sleep and eat well. With the stress of this new position I have also been feeling some emotional swings, especially when overtired. That has not been very fun but I am sleeping more and trying to balance everything.

One thing that I think really helps is exercise, and I am starting to work out a schedule that works. I go to yoga once or twice a week and try to go walking once or twice a week and that helps me feel good and keeps my energy up during the workdays. I went to prenatal yoga for the first time on Saturday and they talked about dealing with fears and anxieties like Kali, this goddess who dances. It's a bit touchy-feely but the idea is that when you feel negative feelings to not get overwhelmed by them and close down, but to accept them, dance with the fears, and continue to move forward. That thought has really helped me get through some tough times this week.

HAVE YOU FOUND OUT WHAT YOU'RE HAVING YET??: Yes we have! We went to the 20-week ultrasound last week, and found out we are having a boy! It was an exciting appointment. Everything looks healthy and good with the baby. About halfway though I felt really sick like I was going to throw up and the technician had me get up and walk around, she thought I was lying on that blood vessel in the back and that was making me feel sick? I did feel better after walking around and soon we were back at the ultrasound.

DO YOU HAVE A NICKNAME FOR YOUR BABY: Yes, although my mom has taken to calling him "little Mahesh" since the ultrasound, we have started calling him "Pie-ya" which is Tamil (Mahesh's language) for boy. Sometimes I just call him Pie.

WHAT DO YOU WANT AS A GIFT: I have had a lot of people asking me this. I would like books to start a children's book collection for Pie. I also think baby clothes are very cute so getting some little outfits would be nice, but I know they won't fit for very long so it feels a bit impractical to ask for that.

I guess that's it! I hope you all are well and I will check in again soon!
